DESCRIPTION OF WORK REQUIREMENTS FOR A SWEEP’S HELPER
The work a sweep’s helper performs is as follows: 40% helping the master sweep sweep chimneys; 10% installation of caps and spark arrestors; 10% assist with the technical evaluation of chimneys and connecting pipes; 10% helping install new flues into old chimneys (relining); and 30% helping to rebuild or repoint new and old chimneys.

Work is usually performed in teams of two (master sweep and helper). The only exception to this is when big jobs (rebuilds, relinings, etc.) occur. Then all employees show up at the jobsite at the same time to complete the work. All helpers are closely supervised at all times to ensure safety and proper performance.
This work requires some experience performing physical labor (climbing, lifting, hauling, etc.); working with heights, and some technical/mechanical expertise. This is definitely not work for people who cannot remain focused, cannot take direction, are not self-motivated, and are afraid of heights. The firm is very strict on work safety – they have the best safety harnesses and equipment available – but it is work on heights and requires that all employees be physically fit and mentally focused. In a typical workday of 8-10 hours, a sweeping team services 5-10 customers, all of whom present a unique set of challenges. A sweep’s helper is expected to be able to anticipate his or her master sweep’s needs after viewing each home’s layout
Detailed description of responsibilities per category. 1. Sweeping chimneys: 98% always the same tasks. The helper has to be able to set up ladders in different locations and be able to bring all appropriate equipment for each particular job, especially vacuum, brushes, connections, lights, etc. The technique for learning chimney cleaning and proper ladder and equipment usually takes one or two days to understand, and you continue to learn after each job. 2. Evaluation of the technical condition of chimney and pipes: No special knowledge and training required, because master sweep does this work. 3. Rebuild of chimneys: demolition (technical removal of existing old chimney and other masonry work), mixing mortar, bringing materials and equipment up ladders and/or scaffolding to roof and back to van, installation of special scaffolding, and thorough clean-up in a safe and proper manner.

Detailnejsi popis jednotlivych praci:
1) Cisteni kominu. Prace s relativne standartnim prubehem. Jedna se predevsim o instalaci zebriku v ruznych podminkach a manipulaci s pomuckami k cisteni kominu, jako je specialni vysavac, tyce a stetky, svetla, atd.. Jak technika cisteni kominu, tak manipulace se zebriky vyzaduje priblizne jednodenni zaskoleni. Plus samozrejme naslednou praxi, kterou jiz ziskate praci samotnou.

Dies ist definitiv keine Arbeit für Leute, die nicht konzentriert, nicht zielorientiert , selbstmotiviert sind

Es ist eine Arbeit in der Hoehe und benötigt sehr
strenge physikalische Anpassung und Konzentration.
An einem typischen Arbeitstag von 8-10 Stunden,
bedient ein Team 5-10 Kunden.
Entsprechend des Hauplanes und einer genau geschilderten Beschreibung wird von dem Helfer die Kenntnis erwartet:
1) Kamine zu reinigen – 98 % immer die gleichen Aufgaben. Der Helfer muss die Leitern auf den Standorten aufstellen koennen, die passende Ausruestung juer jeden bestimmten Job , besonders Vakuum, Bürsten,
Anschlüsse, Lichter, usw. zu holen. Die Technik für das Lernen
von Kaminreinigung und von korrektem Strichleiter- und
Ausrüstung nimmt ein oder ein oder zwei Tage in Anspruch.
2). Fuer die Auswertung des technischen Zustandes des Kamins und der Rohre wird kein spezielles Wissen und
Training benötigt, weil der Meister diese Arbeit erledigt.
3. Wiederaufbauen der Kamine: Mörtel der Demontage, technischer
Abbau des vorhandenen alten Kamins und anderer Maurerarbeitarbeit,
das Mischen, Materialien und Ausrüstung auf den Strichleitern
und/oder dem Baugerüst und zurückholen in die Packwagen,
Installation des speziellen Baugerüstes, vollständige Reinigung in
einer sicheren und korrekten Weise

Pracovny den ma priblizne 7-10 hodin, kedy sa spravidla zrealizuje 5-10 zakazok. Pracovne tempo je premenlive, vyzaduje sa schopnost koncentracie v situaciach, ktore to vyzaduju.
Detailnejsi popis jednotlivych prac :
1. Cistenie kominov.Praca s relativne standardnym priebehom.Zahrna prevazne instalaciu rebrikov v roznych podmienkach, a manipulaciu s pomockami na cistenie kominov ( specialny vysavac, tyce a stetky, svetla … a pod. ) Manipulacia s rebrikmi a technika cistenia kominov vyzaduju priblizne jednodenne zaskolenie. Plus naslednu prax, ktora sa uz ziska samotnou pracou.
2. Ucast na vyhodnocovani technickeho stavu komina a “dymovodu” nevyzaduje specialne znalosti a zrucnost.
3. Praca pri prestavbe starych a stavbe novych kominov
pozostava z demolacnych prac ( t.j. odborne rozobranie
stareho komina ) a naslednych stavebnych prac ( t.j.
miesanie malty a specialnych zmesi, nosenie materialu na a
zo strechy, instalacia specialneho lesenia, upratovanie a pod.

El trabajo corresponde en un 40% asistiendo al maestro limpia chimeneas; 10% instalando los gorros y los supresores de chispas; 10% asistiendo en la evaluación técnica de chimeneas y de conexiones de los ductos; 10% ayudando en la instalación de ductos de terracota para reconstruir el interior de chimeneas antiguas (viejas); y el 30% a reconstruir o arreglar el exterior de las chimeneas nuevas y viejas.

La única excepción a esto es cuando surgen trabajos grandes (reconstrucción de chimeneas, instalación de ductos de terracota, etc.), en estos casos, todos los trabajadores asisten a la obra al mismo tiempo para completar el trabajo. Todos los ayudantes son supervisados a toda hora para velar por la seguridad del ayudante y la calidad del trabajo. Este oficio requiere algo de experiencia haciendo trabajo físico (levantando peso, encaramándose, etc.); trabajando en altura, y algo de habilidad técnica-mecánica. Este no es un trabajo para personas que no puedan mantenerse enfocadas, que no acepten órdenes, sin iniciativa propia o que tengan miedo de las alturas. La compañía es muy estricta en lo que se refiere a seguridad laboral -tiene los mejores arneses y equipos de seguridad disponible- pero como se trata de trabajo en altura requiere que todos sus empleados estén en buen estado físico y se mantengan concentrados en el trabajo.
En un día típico de trabajo de 8 a 10 horas, un equipo de maestro y ayudante proveen servicio de 5 a 10 clientes, cada cual puede presentar un serie de retos diferentes. Un ayudante debe poder anticipar las necesidades del maestro después de haber evaluado la situación de cada trabajo. El ayudante necesita poder instalar las escaleras de mano en diferentes lugares y llevar las herramientas y materiales necesarios para cada trabajo en particular, aspiradoras especiales, cepillos, conexiones, mangueras, focos, etc. Aprender la técnica para limpiar chimeneas y la instalación correcta de escaleras de mano, andamios y equipos, demora uno o dos días y uno continua aprendiendo con cada trabajo que se realiza. 2.- Evaluación de la condición técnica y estructural de chimeneas y ductos. No se requiere entrenamiento o conocimientos previos especializados ya que el maestro hace este trabajo. 3.- Reconstrucción de chimeneas: demolición (técnicas para remover chimeneas viejas y otros trabajos de albañilería ya existentes), instalación de andamios especiales, mezclar cemento, subir material y equipamiento por las escaleras de mano y andamios a los techos y de regreso a los vehículos y al término de la faena, hacer una limpieza completa de manera segura.
